Google Ads and LSA for electricians.

We loaded 326 electrician websites: 84.0% had no conversion tracking. How paid media works when most electrical leads arrive as a phone call.

Thesis

Electricians are the worst-measuring trade we have scanned, and the gap sits exactly where the work comes from. Most electrical leads arrive as a phone call, and the phone call is the conversion most often left unrecorded.

How many electricians can actually see their leads?

We loaded 326 electrician websites in a real browser and recorded what was installed. 274 of them, 84.0%, had no conversion tracking of any kind - the highest rate of any trade in our conversion tracking report. Of the 50 we confirmed were running ads, 28 of them, 56.0%, were advertising with nothing measuring the result.

That second figure is the one that matters for anyone buying clicks. More than half of the electricians we could confirm were paying for ads had no way to record a lead coming back from them. Every bid, budget and keyword decision in those accounts is being made on clicks alone.

Why do emergency and planned electrical work need separate campaigns?

Electrical demand splits in two. An emergency callout - a dead circuit, a burning smell, a tripped main - is booked by whoever answers first. A panel upgrade, an EV charger install or a whole-house rewire is planned, quoted and compared, and is worth many times more.

Put both into one campaign and automated bidding will chase whichever converts most cheaply, which is usually the small emergency job. Splitting them lets each carry its own budget and its own bid ceiling inside Google Ads, so the high-ticket installs are not starved by the volume work.

What does an untracked phone call cost an electrical business?

Because the job usually starts with a call, a site that records only form submissions sees a fraction of what its ads produce. Call tracking with a minimum duration, so a two-second hang-up is not counted as a lead, closes most of that gap. Local Services Ads report their own calls, but only the ones Google charged for, so they need reconciling against the phone system rather than trusting either number alone.

When a call-driven account suddenly reports nothing, the cause is usually measurement rather than demand - the common reasons are covered in why Google Ads conversions stop reporting.

If you want to see how we report results, read our case studies - platform-reported leads and closed business are shown separately. When you are ready, get in touch and we will start with a look at your current tracking.
